Conscious Healthy Home Joins IWBI's Healthy Workplaces Coalition
I have news that fills me with both pride and purpose: Conscious Healthy Home has been accepted as a member of the International WELL Building Institute'sHealthy Workplaces Coalition.
This isn't just another membership—it's a seat at the table where the future of workplace health and safety is being shaped.
What is the Healthy Workplaces Coalition?
Launched by IWBIand ISSA (International Sanitary Supply Association), the Healthy Workplaces Coalition unites nearly 80 national organizations, industry leaders, and trade associations around a singular mission: advancing federal policy that helps businesses and organizations implement health and safety improvements across the built environment
In the wake of COVID-19, the world woke up to something building scientists have known for decades: the spaces we occupy profoundly impact our health. But awareness alone doesn't drive change—policy does. Funding mechanisms do. Industry collaboration does.
That's where the coalition comes in.
Coalition members work together to:
Support federal policy promoting healthy workplaces
Raise awareness about the imperative of workplace health and safety
Educate policymakers and businesses on evidence-based solutions
Advocate for financial incentives that help employers invest in proven health strategies
Share expertise across diverse sectors of the built environment
Why This Matters to You
Whether you're a family working to create a healthier home, a realtor serving clients in the wellness real estate market, or an organization pursuing WELL certification, our participation in this coalition directly benefits you.
Here's how:
Stronger Advocacy for Your Interests
As a coalition member, I now have a platform to advocate for policies that make healthy building strategies more accessible and affordable. This means potential tax incentives for air quality improvements, funding for ventilation upgrades in schools, and regulatory frameworks that prioritize occupant health alongside sustainability.
Access to Cutting-Edge Resources
Coalition membership provides access to research, tools, and best practices from IWBI and industry-leading partners. These insights inform every recommendation I make—whether I'm consulting with a family on mold remediation strategies or advising an organization on WELL Air features.
Expanded Network of Experts
The coalition includes manufacturers, technology providers, cleaning industry professionals, building science experts, and public health advocates. This cross-sector collaboration means I can connect you with the right solutions and the right partners for your specific healthy building challenges.
Amplified Impact
Individual voices matter, but collective voices transform policy. By joining forces with organizations like Honeywell, Fellowes, Poppy Health, and dozens of other industry leaders, we're creating the momentum needed to make healthy buildings the standard, not the exception.
What Drove Me to Apply
My family's experience with toxic mold fundamentally changed the trajectory of my life. After 15 years as a corporate attorney, I couldn't unsee what I'd learned about how buildings fail—and more importantly, how they can be designed, built, and maintained to protect rather than compromise health.
Since founding Conscious Healthy Home in 2023, I've worked with families navigating mold illness, trained realtors to recognize healthy home features, and advised organizations on workplace wellness strategies. But individual client work, while deeply meaningful, has its limits.
Policy work? That scales.
When federal incentives make air quality upgrades affordable for small businesses, that's impact. When building codes require proper ventilation in new construction, that's prevention. When schools receive funding for HVAC improvements, that's equity.
The Healthy Workplaces Coalition creates the pathway for these systemic changes.
Looking Forward
This acceptance comes at a pivotal moment. I was recently appointed to IWBI's Air Advisory, where I contribute to shaping the evolution of air quality standards within the WELL Building Standard. Now, as a coalition member, I can help translate those standards into policy recommendations that drive real-world implementation.
The intersection of technical expertise, policy advocacy, and direct service to clients positions Conscious Healthy Home to advance the healthy buildings movement from multiple angles:
Educating homeowners and realtors on building science principles
Advising organizations on WELL certification and workplace wellness
Contributing to standard development through the Air Advisory
Advocating for supportive policy through the coalition
It's a comprehensive approach to a complex challenge—and I couldn't be more energized by the opportunity.
Beyond Buildings: A Movement
The Healthy Workplaces Coalition represents something larger than policy wins or industry collaboration. It represents a fundamental shift in how we think about our built environment.
For too long, buildings were designed for efficiency, aesthetics, and cost—with human health as an afterthought, if it was considered at all. The coalition is part of a movement rewriting that narrative.
We spend 90% of our time indoors. Those spaces should enhance our wellbeing, not undermine it. They should support our productivity, not sap our energy. They should protect our health, not expose us to preventable risks.
That's not radical. That's just right.
And it's exactly what the Healthy Workplaces Coalition is fighting for.
Your Role in This Movement
You don't need to be a coalition member to be part of this transformation. Every healthy building decision you make—from choosing low-VOC materials to upgrading your HVAC system to demanding better indoor air quality from your employer—contributes to the momentum.
If you're a homeowner, your investments in healthy home improvements signal market demand.
If you're a realtor, your education about wellness real estate creates informed consumers.
If you're an organizational leader, your commitment to WELL certification demonstrates the business case for healthy buildings.
And if you're an advocate like me, your voice adds to the chorus calling for policies that put people first.
Together, we're building a healthier future—literally.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here's to the work ahead.
